Hello Everyone!

Welcome to the very first Class 1 blog post!

This week has been a busy and exciting week. We put on a worship for the whole school and grown ups. We taught everyone about forgiveness by acting out the story of The Prodigal Son. We were very proud of ourselves and it was very exciting!

We have some eggs in our classroom which are going to hatch into chicks. We have been using a special light to look inside the eggs and can see a black dot inside which is actually the little chick wriggly around

In P.E we have been learning about overarm and underarm throws and catching.

We also had some very special visitors with Captain Wonderweb and the Esteem Machine. They taught us about our body and our brain and how to look after our mental health. They put on a great show. We loved it!

Welcome back to our second blog post!

This week we have planted some different seeds for our Science learning. We are going to watch how they grow from now until the summer holidays. We are growing mustard seeds, sunflowers and radishes. We also learnt some fascinating facts about plants.

 

Did you know….

Grass is a plant?

Trees are plants?

Weeds are plants (even if you don’t want them in your gardens!)

Flowers are plants too?!

 

We have been checking on our chick eggs and they are growing well. Hopefully they will be hatching next week.

 

In P.E we have learnt how to bat a ball and today we had a game of kwik cricket. It was hot but lots of fun!

 

Our mixed media seaside pictures are now finished and Ms Bailey is going to put them up in the classroom. They look beautiful and we are very proud of ourselves.

Hello and welcome back to Class 1’s blog!

Since we last wrote it has been a very exciting time because our chicks have hatched and now they have gone to live on a farm down the road.

Five of the eggs hatched and the chicks really enjoyed having time with us. There were two black and three yellow ones. We were able to get them out and hold them. They even looked at our work when we were writing facts about chicks! We chose their names; Beaky, Midnight, Fluffy, Sweetie and Bonny. We couldn’t believe how quickly they grew!

We have learnt lots about chicks from our experience.

Some of our favourite facts are:

-They have a special part on their beak called an egg tooth which they use to help them hatch out of the egg.

-Chicks stay in the egg for 21 days before they hatch.

-Grown up chickens are called hens (female) or roosters (male).

 Our plants have also been growing really well and our mustard seeds and radishes have already gone home ready to be eaten! Yum yum!

Hello again, it’s Class 1 here,

This week we have started a new Literacy topic all about fairy tales. We had fun doing drama on Monday, showing how different characters from Cinderella felt through the way we were acting. We showed feeling sad, angry, happy and gob smacked!

Our new History topic is about Explorers. This week we learnt about Neil Armstrong. Did you know he was the first man to set foot on the moon? He was from America and so he put the American flag on the moon when he landed. We also learnt about some of the people who helped him achieve his mission, which included some great black ladies who did some very clever maths and science. His famous words as he landed were:

‘One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.’
