Saltwood Church of England School is a Voluntary-Aided School and as such, the Governing Body acts as the admissions authority for the school. Applications must be made by completing a RCAF on-line or by completing a paper version.  Please note that following our consultation in 2021, admission arrangements have been altered by the Governing Body such that a supplementary information form is not required and church affiliation is no longer considered as part of our admissions criteria.

Thank you for considering Saltwood Church of England Primary School for your child.  You are making an important decision and we wish to do all we can to support you in this process.

We are offering tours for prospective parents throughout the Autumn. There will be a tour every week and open days in November and December (see our home page for details) so please contact the school office on 01303 266058 or  to book a time that suits you.

You can apply for a place at our school via the KCC website any time between November 2023 and January 2024.

Timetable for Parental Appeals


If your child is due to start Primary school in September 2024, you can appeal if you are refused a place at one of your preferred schools on National Offer Day (April 2024).

You will need to submit your appeal before  May 2024 for it to be considered by July 2024. Any appeals received after this time will be heard within 40 school days from the deadline, or where reasonably possible in line with updated guidance from the Department for Education.

For late applications, appeals should be heard within 40 school days from the deadline for lodging appeals where possible, or within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged where reasonably possible in line with updated guidance from the Department for Education

Applying for a School Place Mid-Year

A parent can apply for a place for their child at any school at any time. To make an In-Year application parents should contact the school office and request an In Year Application Form. An offer will be made if places are available, or the child will be placed on our waiting list which is ranked by the application of our oversubscription criteria as detailed in the above Admission Arrangements
