During the summer term we have a programme of transition events to support a smooth and enjoyable start to school life:
HOME VISITS AND NURSERY VISITS
Home visits allow us to meet you and your child in an informal setting and begin our effective partnership. We also visit your child in their nursery setting and each nursery is invited to bring the children to school for an additional visit.
NEW PARENT INDUCTION MEETING AND SCHOOL VISIT
You are invited to attend an induction meeting whilst your child visits their new classroom for an afternoon to play with a small group of current EY children and children who will be in their class.
STORY AND SINGING TIMES
Your child will be invited in to enjoy two story and singing times with their new teacher and class.
You are most welcome to join us for Sports Day and our Summer Fete.
STARTING SCHOOL IN 2020!
During the first week the class will be split in to two to help them settle happily. Each group will attend for two morning sessions, including lunch, and two afternoon sessions over the first four days. From the second week all pupils will be full time.
If your child is not yet 5 at the beginning of the academic year, we can discuss a more flexible approach to starting school if this is appropriate.
This is held once your child has started school to provide further information.
FRIENDS OF SALTWOOD SCHOOL
An afternoon tea for new parents is held early in the new term where you can meet other parents from our PFA.
We enjoy a close partnership with parents and have an open door policy if you should wish to speak to us at any time. You will be kept updated throughout your child’s time in Early Years by Tapestry, parents’ evenings, stay and play sessions and times to come and share Learning Journey book.
